Did a quick 6.2 miles on the treadmill tonight in the home gym. It just flies by when the TV is on. Better re-hydrate now--going to donate blood in the morning for the Katherine Toce memorial drive. They've collected something like 2,500 units in her memory in 11 years. They do 2 drives a year.
Regarding X Factor, I'm really surprised Cece survived. Let's face it, when Simon tells someone to pack a suitcase that's usually the end of the road but this time the voters thought otherwise. Vino deserved to go. He's a dud. Now that it's down to six, without even hearing them anymore, I see Cece going next, then the girl group, then Diamond, then the boy group, with the kid winning the final over Tate. I just don't see anyone beating the prodigy.

Chicken Gregory
Did you ever notice how much people post on fb about food? What they're eating, where they're eating, what they cooked, what they had yesterday, what they're having tomorrow...and all the pictures of food!! I do it too--I'm not derogating--it just cracks me the hell up. I wonder what it says about our psycology. Is it just a bit of braggadocio or one-upmanship? Kind of a "Nah, nah, nah, nah, nah?" Or maybe we're just letting everyone know we're OK and not going hungry. Perhaps all of those things and more. Who knows. I just find it pretty amusing. Oh, and by the way--here's a new specialty dish I've created for myself: It's called "Chicken Gregory."

CHESHIRE HIGH BRAVE CEREMONY
I was privileged to attend Veterans Day ceremonies at Cheshire High School along with numerous other Veterans and their families.
Once again, The CHS student group BRAVE (Bringing Remembrance to All Veterans Everywhere) outdid themselves. I've been to past BRAVE ceremonies and functions but I believe this is the first one to involve every single person in the school. The entire student body and faculty/staff turned out in one way or another--if not directly taking part then to attend and show their support.
From being greeted outdoors by our football team, to meeting BRAVE members indoors, being escorted to an extensive food spread, enjoying a breakfast reception to a jazz combo, visiting and chatting with enthusiastic students, watching a video tribute, being escorted through a gauntlet of football players out to the main ceremony apron, listening to student speakers and being treated to music by the spectacular marching band and a couple of choral groups.
My first thought was that we were being treated like royalty but actually that was not the case. We were being treated with respect, admiration and recognition earned by serving our country. I would say that BRAVE did everything we could have asked of them but we didn't ask for anything. They came up with this all on their own. Everything they did for us came from their hearts and it showed.
Be proud of this group, Cheshire.
This was a truly impactful and magnificent presentation.
There is simply no way for anyone to know how meaningful BRAVE's Veterans Day ceremonies were without being a Veteran. Thank you, BRAVE students!

Ran a quick 8.5 miles this afternoon out in the cold. Trying to squeeze in a few more outdoor runs before it gets too cold and dark for me. Not a huge fan of running out in the cold--gotta get all bundled up and then once I get all heated up running the chill manages to find its way down my back. Plus the dark--I left out about 3:30 and by the time I finished it was well into dusk. So pretty soon I'll come inside and work on the treadmill for the winter but it's not the same. Good thing about the treadmill is I watch TV while I'm on it so it's not too bad. Route: Warren, West Main, Mountain, North Brooksvale, South Main, Main, West Main, Warren. 74 Minutes.

Thanksgiving Saturday
Just ran a quick 10k this afternoon--6+ miles. Had a double Thanksgiving this year with our second feast this noon hour. So after clean-up, dishes, storing lefties I opted for the run. I was inside most of the day so I thought it was pretty nice out but when I stepped out in a hoodie and shorts I thought the better of it and changed into long wind pants. Good thinking--by the time I finished it was near dark and in the 30's. A great run nevertheless. Felt great and could have kept going. Route: Warren, West main, Main, South Main, North Brooksvale, Linear Trail, Cornwall, Oak, Ives, West Main, Warren. 64 Minutes.
