A rushed 5.2 on Wednesday evening racing the sunset. Got off work way late but had been planning all day to run when I got home. I only had a few minutes of downtime from getting out the car and strapping on the runners. Not only was it approaching dusk but I also needed to pick up daughter at the mall, she was out shopping for a prom dress. She said she'd need a pick up around 7--I left out at 6 sharp and she started ringing me at 6:05. I didn't know--even though I have my cell phone with me it's in case I need it--I don't answer calls, mainly because I can't hear or feel the phone when it rings. So I just gunned it the whole way, thought about doing a mere 4 but just couldn't make that turn when the time came and just kept going on the 5.2 mile loop. Got home to find like 10 missed calls on the phone so I rushed right back out to pick her up and then when I got her she's like, "OK, I got some food to bring to Mommy (at work) and she wants coffee, too, so you need to take me there." I just loveit when people make plans for me--especially when I'm short on time. Then a nice 10 miles on Friday after work. This day I got off at a reasonable hour so I was on foot by 3:00. Really nice day but cold. So as I was running along I found a $10 bill on the sidewalk. Gotta like that. So a great 10 miles and a profit, too! Ran the loop in the opposite direction to fend off that north wind as I've mentioned previously. It worked. So as I was running along, thinking about what to do with my new-found $10 I decided to pull out the cellie to make a short video while I ran along:
I ended up giving the ten-spot to Malibu-based charity raincatcher.org which specializes in providing rain harvesting and storage systems to folks in developing countries in need of clean drinking water.
